Acne
Adolescents often suffer the indignity of acne which can have a negative effect on them psychologically. Acne is a skin inflammatory disease caused when bacteria clog the oil glands present in the skin.
Acne results in the formation of pimples, whiteheads and blackheads on the face, hands, neck, back and virtually on any part of the body. Many times, acne causes formation of permanent marks on the region if not treated in time.
Acne can be easily treated by employing certain home-based remedial measures. The first step is to remove excess oil from the skin. This could be done by washing the face thoroughly using a medicated bath soap. Soap should be applied on the face and massaged gently. Later, the soap should be cleaned completely using lots of water.
This process should be repeated on every affected part of the skin at least 3 times in a day. Dry the skin using a clean towel. Now take a cotton pad and apply apple cider vinegar on the acne. Vinegar helps in drying up the acne quicker.Another good remedy is to apply a mixture of clove, honey and cinnamon over the pimple after washing the face thoroughly.
This mixture can be applied at night before going to bed. One effective home-based remedy is to apply a mixture of salt and vinegar directly on the pimple and blackheads. This mixture should be kept for 30 minutes and then rinsed thoroughly. This should be repeated 2-3 times in a day. Salt helps in killing the bacteria while vinegar dries up the pimple.
Rubbing of garlic on the pimple reduces the inflammatory response and the redness that develops around the acne. Teenagers affected with acne should change their diet habits. They should avoid eating excess fat-containing foods such as chocolates, candies, ice-creams and other junk food.
Consumption of water should be increased to a minimum 6 glasses a day. Water keeps the skin hydrated and avoids building up of waste inside the body. One should keep the scalp clean so as to avoid acne formation on the head. This could be done by shampooing the hair regularly.
