Natural Acne Treatments that Honestly Work

By Linda Fazio

Prescription drugs aren't the only way to clear up your acne. Many natural remedies exist as well. There are normal household items that you may already have on hand that can be used to treat your acne. Your local WalMart or similar store, pharmacy, or a health foods chain can provide what you need. Acne can be a stubborn problem, but if you're determined and willing to try various remedies, you can find the right solution.

There are certain facial masks that you can easily prepare at home that can often be very effective for treating acne. These are uncomplicated to put together and you most likely have these things in your kitchen. A baking soda skin exfoliant, for example, simply consists of a damp cloth covered with baking soda. You simply rub the cloth on your skin, wash your face with water and pat dry.

Another effective facial mask is made with oatmeal, the same type you eat for breakfast. You cook it up as if you were going to eat it, only you allow it to cool and then place it on your skin for about twenty minutes. Rinse and dry afterwards. To get the best result possible, you will be required to use the facial mask every day for a few weeks.

Don't assume that visiting a suntan booth, or spending more time in the sun, will help cure your acne. This may seem like a good solution, but it's actually not. The reason that many people believe this is that the sun can indeed dry up your pimples. What happens is that overexposure to the sun actually irritates the skin, priming it to produce more acne at a later date. Tanning lamps can cause the same problem as staying out in the sunshine too long. Nevertheless, being in the sun is good for you. It provides Vitamin D and improves your mood. So don't stay indoors all the time. A reasonable amount of sunshine is beneficial for anyone but, soaking up the rays for hours will cause more harm than good. Go out and enjoy the sunshine, by all means. Just make it a habit to always apply a good sunscreen beforehand. This will prevent your skin from become irritated by the sun, which can lead to future outbreaks of acne.

When you want to clear up the acne you suffer from, you need to make sure that you are getting enough of the vitamins and minerals that matter the most. Aside from eating a healthy diet, you may want to add some supplements. Make sure that you are taking a good multivitamin--one that is food based. There are even some specific minerals that could really help your skin and clear up your acne. The best known mineral for this is zinc, which can be found naturally in wheat germ, some meats, some seeds, and in oysters. Do not take more than the recommended dosage of zinc if you are taking it in supplement form. Another really good mineral to take when you have acne is chromium.

Natural acne remedies have been around for a very long time, well before the modern treatments, these were used for keeping your skin in good shape using herbs and such. Making a change with your food consumption could help; stay clear of processed foods and stick with natural foods like fruits and vegetables. The acne remedies we have mentioned have aided a lot of folks to defeat their acne issues; you may want to try one of them out. Or if ever you change your mind, you can still have Hydroxatone that will surely give the best result.
